Edifying Ecclesiastes Reflections
Thursday & Friday 1st & 2nd November
Ecclesiastes 7 & 8 Reflections
Opening Verse
“Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride.”
Ecclesiastes 7:8 NLT
Ecclesiastes 7 in Full:
Memory Verse
“But I did find this: God created people to be virtuous, but they have each turned to follow their own downward path.”
Ecclesiastes 7:29 NLT
Reflection
Do you ever start the year with New Years Resolutions? Do you make big, bold claims about what you will do in the year ahead and do you go after them to accomplish them with all your heart? The goals, ambitions and intentions are not bad, but what are our motivations? Do we truly seek to be virtuous as we finish the year? Or are we stuck in self pity, wining and complaining about how bad things are in this present age.
“In my search for wisdom and in my observation of people’s burdens here on earth, I discovered that there is ceaseless activity, day and night.”
Ecclesiastes 8:16 NLT
The ideal of being virtuous is to follow through, to show up and to be intentionally faithful in what you do. If that means creating safe boundaries and saying no to something this is virtuous. More than saying maybe and then texting last minute to say you can’t make it. Don’t give people false intentions by being indecisive.
“I realized that no one can discover everything God is doing under the sun. Not even the wisest people discover everything, no matter what they claim.”
Ecclesiastes 8:17 NLT
By remaining virtuous, by remaining true to God and to his people, creation and ourselves we can stand before God on judgement day. When we surrender to false Ideologies, when we lose our hope and become stagnant this is when the lies of the devil get in. We cannot allow it and we must remain true to Gods word and follow Him daily! Let’s choose virtue today, let’s choose Jesus and let’s choose eternal life with Him!
Thank God today that Jesus is the cornerstone, that Jesus is the light of the world and that he can transform any of our circumstances into His favor. This world is not our home and no matter how far we fall from Grace. Jesus is ready, willing and available for you right now today to welcome you Home!
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, I confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and for answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
Lamentations 3:26 NLT
