Reflection on Ecclesiastes
We often think the grass is green on the other side. Preacher and founder of the Alpha course Nicky Gumble says if the grass is greener on the other side it is probably Astro-turf (fake grass)!!! When opportunity cost arises we often think the foregone opportunity or the fear of missing out can either cripple us by indecision or lead us to arguing within our own minds or with our nearest and dearest!!!
The temperature in our world right now is hot, the media, the politics and the general societal norms have become far more hostile than in recent modern history. As followers of the Way we are called to bring peace, to shine light in the darkness and to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the people around us.
We must thirst for hunger and righteousness in our communities, circles of influence and crowds of people where ever we may find ourselves in our day to day lives. How can you show Jesus to others? How can you be sharing Gods love with others? Let us contemplate all these things as we enter into the Thanksgiving season.
Let us pray…
Father God help us to follow you, to be present, to persevere and to not give up seeking to do good where ever we are. We thank you Jesus for being the difference in our lives and please help us to be different to those we encounter, enter into conversation with and enable us to be salt and light everyday in Jesus name. Amen
