Free & Fit Advent Challenge Day 17 - Proverbial Prayers & Planks - Advent Devotions from Proverbs with a Word, Proverb & Exercise Everyday - Tuesday December 17th 2024

Todays word on December 17th is Wait - When we enter the unknown sometimes we can forget the one who knows the future. The one who made the world and the one True God Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This Christmas we may not experience warm weather or we may bemoan the extreme changes in weather we are experiencing, but instead of complaining we can be trusting, loving and knowing that God has a better, bigger and bolder plan for our lives.

The future is Jesus. The future is in Gods hands and nothing can separate us from Gods love when we enter into relationship with Him and place our life in his hands. Lets be thanking God today for the power of the Holy Spirit in and working through us to bring justice, truth and mercy to our world in Jesus name. Amen

Our Proverb for today is Proverbs and Verse is taken from Proverbs Seventeen verse One :  "Better a meal of vegetables where there is love, than a fattened calf with hatred."

In the Amplified it says “Better is a dry morsel [of food served] with quietness and peace Than a house full of feasting [served] with strife and contention.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17‬:‭1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Today’s Movement is the adapted Push up or some may call it the Wall Push-ups - Upper-body exercise to target chest and shoulders. We continue to work our way up from 3 x 3 x 22 to 31.

Reflection & Prayer:

How many times do we see a metaphorical putting on or throwing off of “sackcloth” mentioned in the Bible? We see it mentioned in Genesis at the first site of God as Adam and Eve put on leaves as clothing and hid in the Garden of Eden, David threw off his clothes of sin whilst his mourning turned into dancing and as Peter through off his clothes to put on his tunic and run to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What we put on and what we throw off matters.

In context to our Freedom in Christ we are taught in Galatians 5:1 to put on the Fruit of the Spirit 5:22-23.

But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭AMP‬‬

In Ephesians 6: 18-24 we are told to stand firm and put on the Armor of God.

So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:14-18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Finally in 1 Corinthians 13 we are to put on Love.

“And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:13‬-

We are to drop the things which so easily entangle us in this world and follow the Lord our God, through constant prayers and petitions, in fellowship with the Holy Spirit to stand firm and fight the good fight of the faith.

Let us today go boldly forward proclaiming the name of the Lord over every obstacle or challenge in our lives in Jesus name. Amen

Let us Pray…

Lord Jesus be with us today. Whether it rains or shines Lord we are grateful to you and for you in all our current circumstances please work through them through us in Jesus name. Amen

“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”

‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
