Today’s Word on December 20 is : Thank - Thank you Jesus! Christ came to serve, and not be served. He demonstrated this by his death on the Cross, by washing his Disciples feet and over and over again transforming the situation, circumstance or position he was in. Therefore, as we hear in our passages for today. As Good Samaritans, we should focus on submission like Jesus, through the eyes of transformation.


What does Transformation look like to you? To me transformation looks like being fully loved and understood in a world which teaches us  fear and confusion. In order to explain what real transformation is we need to understand what real love is. In order to do that its essential to understand and appreciate what the absence of love looks like. Gods perfect love casts out all fear. Fear is to do with punishment, but God is in the relationship of love, God is in the business of of offering hope and God is in the reality of supporting us all in our faith journey. 


The Bible teaches us about three essential virtues : Faith, Hope and Love. The most important of these is love. When one of these three is absent, or unavailable to us, this is when loneliness and human disconnection are experienced. It is here I began to realise in every relationship we need a deeper bond, a three-strand-bond between God, myself and neighbor. 


Our Proverb for today is Proverbs Twenty Verse One “Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise."


In the Amplified it translates more clearly as “Wine is a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler; And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise. [Prov 23:29, 30; Is 28:7; Hos 4:11]”

Prayer & Reflection:


Witnessing a marriage ceremony is a beautiful thing. The process of watching two people coming together, two families coming together and within so much diversity it brings pure joy to see the Peace of the Gospel still be alive today. That despite chaos, confusion and calamity in our world love is still possible.


As it says in 1 Chronicles 16:34 we can always and everywhere “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Yes, it is pure, right and indeed good to give thanks and rejoice in Gods love.  That Gods love, which is perfect and drives out all fear, is always possible here on this earth and in Gods creation. We are his people, his pasture and his chosen possession. In 1 Peter 2:9 it declares “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light!” We are Gods chosen people!


In spite of what we may see in the news, on our media outlets and technological devices Jesus offer of Peace is still possible Today. Gods love is available to us even today and even right now where you are. So today let us receive Gods Peace, receive Gods Son Jesus Christ into our lives and declare Christ’s victory over Sin and Death for our lives today. So wherever you are, however far you feel from God and no matter how far you feel from his Kingdom this Salvation Prayer is for you today. Please say it with me

Today:


Lord Jesus Christ

Come into my Life

Accept me as I am O Lord

But change me to be more like you

Thank you Lord for giving me Peace

Granting me Grace to be with you

Forgive me of my Sins

As I forgive those who Sin against me

Lead me not into Temptation and from all evil

Deliver me into your hands O Lord

Be with me now and forever more

In Jesus name. Amen


If you, like me prayed that prayer, then we have a decision to make today, tomorrow and forever more to follow Jesus Christ. Remember he is with you, for you, not against you and interceding on the right hand of the Father. Always offering you his Prince of Peace Jesus Christ. God is Good All the Time. Jesus is the same yesterday, forever and always bringing us Peace in Jesus name.

Let this be our Prayer today from Paul in his letter to the Ephesians…


“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God in Jesus name. Amen.”


“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
