Today’s word is Listen - when listening people are starting to prefer instant contact rather than uninterrupted human encounters. I am guilty of this and struggle to find a way out. I have to be more aware of this and the potential, if not already detrimental, negative influence on my relationships and learn to switch off and tune in more with my friends and family. Our reactions, our responses, and our realities are constantly changing.
What we define as good and evil is also being perversely impacted by digital media and social influences. The people we often used to turn are replaced with digital influencers, popular social media trends, hashtags or emojis. Human intimacy is replaced with digital intimacy, rapidly humans are being replaced by computers not just in jobs, transport and retail, but in places of relationships and personal communication. Where we travel or visit is no longer monitored by our photography or photo albums, but by our digital footprint, mobile phone devices, apps and electronic tracking technologies. Movie trailers, audio books, discount sales and various different technological progressive promotions are changing the way in which we act and interact as a human race.
Our communication channels are rapidly changing and as such as our responses and our ability to acknowledge a basic need for human intimacy is reduced. We are lacking physical touch, love, complements, hellos, please, thank you and just good old fashioned “Good Day.” My call is for us today is to make a difference, stop investing in our digital appearance and focus on our human communication. Let’s develop real life friendships, build deep and meaningful relationships and interact with friends, family and our neighbors around us.
Today’s Proverb is Proverbs Twenty Seven verse One” it says "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring."
In the Amplified it’s translated as: “Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring. [Luke 12:19, 20; James 4:13]”
Proverbs 27:1 AMP

Reflection & Prayer:
Listening to our hearts is important! As we get older we become more and more aware of the condition, the importance and the health of our heart. It is imperative for us to be able to monitor our heart rate, our blood pressure and we become more and more conscious of what we eat, how often we sleep and what we put into our bodies. Today the Psalmist reminds us of what is the main issue about our ability to sustain our faith in a world confused by sin, choice and deception. Its trully a heart issue.
How is your heart today? Have you checked your blood pressure recently? These are important issues for us as mere mortals in the physical, but its also important for us to consider our hearts in the Spiritual sense. How is our minds shaped by the temperature of our hearts? Does our mind impact our hearts? Often we don’t concern our heads and our hearts as being the same, but to have a healthy heart we need to also have a good mental head. Our mental and our heart health matter.
Today, like the Proverb, let’s be conscious of our heart and mental health. Listening and surrendering our thoughts to God and remembering to slow down and to be aware of our heart rate. Similar to the Psalmist lets be “Be strong (in our faith) and let our hearts take courage (in our day to day activities) through healthy and conscious decisions to look after our physical and spiritual health.
Let us Pray…
Father God please be with us today in everything we do, help us surrender to you, to follow you and be obedient to your will for our lives. Help us this day and each and everyday be conscious of how we treat our our physical bodies and how we treat our spiritual selves all in Jesus name. Let us Be strong and let our hearts take courage in Jesus name. Amen.
“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
