Today’s word is Judgement!

Today’s verse is Isaiah 13:9!
“Listen carefully, the day of the Lord is coming, Cruel, with wrath and raging anger, To make the land a horror [of devastation]; And He shall exterminate its sinners from it. [Is 2:10-22; Rev 19:11-21]”

Prayer & Reflection:
As we enter into uncharted territory in our modern world it becomes more and more apparent that our planet is not the same “as it used to be!” We continue to face struggles with reducing e-omissions, regulating carbon footprint and the rising temperatures across our world. It is not fashionable, comprehensible or conducive for the next generation to feel like they are being born into a naturally habitual world they can live in the same way that you or I did growing up. Our planet is dying, decaying and in need of desperate healing. Much like the humanity that has been given the responsibility of stewarding the earths atmosphere, we need help, healing and holiness to take place in our lives, across our planet and right now!.
“And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.” So God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of the entire earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; and to all the animals on the earth and to every bird of the air and to everything that moves on the ground—to everything in which there is the breath of life—I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so [because He commanded it].”

The issue we face as earthlings is that we dont want to take responsibility for our decaying world. Instead, we want to dismiss the earths problems, continue to live our lives and not admit there are consequences for our own inability to preserve the planet.
We can ignore the issues of our day and believe that God doesn’t desire for us to intervene, name our own worlds needs and seek to reverse some of the damage we have inflicted on our own planet, but we would be wildly mistaken. Not only do we have to love God first, love our neighbour as ourselves and seek first the Kingdom of God, but we must steward what he has given us! We haven’t just been given the mandate of making disciples of all nations without other areas of interest. We must look after our planet better, not betray our creator and seek to heal our land!
““I brought you into a plentiful land To eat its fruit and [enjoy] its good things. But you came and defiled My land And you made My inheritance repulsive.”
Jeremiah 2:7 AMP
The request from God is loud and clear in the scriptures and we can’t dress it up, redefine it by a different translation or blame God for his own creational errors. We have been given a plentiful world, with richness in land and sea, constellations to marvel at and instead we domesticate our animals, disqualify our food, butcher our planet and reject healthy plants to eat fast food. It’s perhaps not what God intended! How can we do better? What can we do to save our planet? It’s a tough question without a quick fix, but we can all make better decisions in the year ahead.
Use bath water for more than one person, wear clothes more than once, don’t run the water whilst cleaning your teeth and make sure you always pick up your trash. These are my own decisions I hope to make for the year ahead. Some I am already doing, but others I am yet to achieve and need more help in getting there! What can you to preserve our planet? How can you contribute to a healthier planet? Here’s to a greener, healthier and more habitual world for 2025!
Prayer for Today…
Father God please help us as humans to be better at protecting, preserving and investing in our planet. Help us to seek to help the next generation and not destroy their world which they may live in well beyond we are here. Help us not merely just return to dust, help us to make other people feel proud of this earth as they are born into your beautiful creation and help us to be better stewards of all the creation you have given us in Jesus name. Amen
