Free & Fit - Let There Be Light - What is Gods First Touch? By Tim Cheux
At the start or the match, what is your first touch like? How do you prepare yourself for your first touch? It always sets the tone for the game. Remember that time when your first touch was a goal from being a sub? Remember when your first touch was an own goal? It always seem probable we may mess up or miss place our first pass. Yet, God lights up the world with his first touch. Creating the Heavens and the Earth!
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness.”
Genesis 1:1-4 NLT
God can redeem, renew and make all things new. He’s been preparing for your journey, to declare the glory of His name, to complete His promise and light up your life to complete the game plan he has planned for you. On the field, in your team and with you today, forever and always. He makes literally all things new!
“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed.”
Isaiah 43:18-20 NLT
How do you respond to Gods invitation? We all hear it on the field when God offers us the invitation to make the pass, make the play or make a way for our team to ascent towards the goal. This helps us all see a clear path, a new way and freedom in our progression and we head towards our opponents goal, but how do we respond to this? How do we find examples of this in the Bible to practically perform them in our own lives? Mary, the Mother of Jesus, provides us with the perfect example!
“Mary responded, “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me. He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear him. His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones. He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands. He has helped his servant Israel and remembered to be merciful. For he made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children forever.” Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months and then went back to her own home.”
Luke 1:46-56 NLT
Mary, like Jesus, like Moses and like many characters in the Bible responds in the way God intended…to complete the promises he had for our lives. However, perhaps you’re not like Mary and end up heading in a more like Jonah type direction in to the Whale and the wrong direction. Jesus provides for us the best substitution, taking away the sins of the World and dying for us on the Cross.
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
John 1:1-5 NLT
Let us let go of our own game plan, follows Gods plan and fulfill his promises for our life and score at Eternal Goal with Him in heaven!
Closing Prayer
Give us, O Lord, a steadfast heart, which no unworthy affection may drag downwards; give us an unconquered heart, which no tribulation can wear out; give us an upright heart, which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Bestow upon us also, O Lord our God, understanding to know you, diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you, and a faithfulness that may finally embrace you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
Thomas Aquinas
“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
Lamentations 3:26 NLT
