Friday Psalm 14

“Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God. But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one! Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn’t think of praying to the Lord. Terror will grip them, for God is with those who obey him. The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the Lord will protect his people. Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When the Lord restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice.”

Pastor Tim’s Refection

Do you ever feel like because your sports team lost you didn’t just lose a one off game? You perhaps feel like more what was at stake was your soul? Yes, it’s true when we place anything before God, literally anything, what ever we are placing in front of Him is an idol in front of Him. The first commandment is clear you shall have no other false Gods before me. Jesus First!

When we place Christ at the front and centre as Humans we end up crucifying Him. Yes that’s right when we reflect on this horrible nature of Humanity we can only see Sin, Death and Destruction. God wants to turn our whaling into dancing, our tears into joy and our fears into flames for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Where ever you are today, leave your idols behind and follow Jesus. Leave behind your past trauma, leave behind your broken relationships, leave behind the four hours of Netflix you could lose if you keep watching that show and if you leave behind that false sense of reality that you don’t need to complete your homework because your dog ate it and there is nothing left! Leave behind the title of King or Queen. Let us Pray! Hallelujah Jesus.

Prayers

Father thank you for leading us out of defeat into victory, help us to leave our idols behind and help us to find somewhere more comfortable alongside you O Lord. Restore us, Repair us and Receive us again afresh today believing in you and you sustaining us through it all in Jesus name. Amen
