Psalm 29 Saturday 29th June

“Honor the Lord, you heavenly beings; honor the Lord for his glory and strength. Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; he makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes with bolts of lightning. The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks and strips the forests bare. In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!” The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as king forever. The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.”

Scripture Reflection

Letting go can be the hardest thing to do as a human being. Holding onto items that should be donated can be one example of this. Do you have a collection of books, clothes or cds that you should get rid of? Do you have some items in your house which no longer truly have any sensical purpose for your everyday life?

Jesus wants to help us give up the things we hold onto, to let go of the tension and release all our anxiety back to Him. Jesus wants to help you in your even most darkest places of distress today and to do an inner work, a deeper healing work and cleanse you from all Sin.

The Psalmist for today is ready to support us in this scenario, to give us the marching orders and to execute the act of surrender to the Lord our God. The Psalmist says “The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace!” So let’s let God back into our closets, back into our book collections and back into our hearts to heal us from our past hurts today!

Prayer

Father God release us from bondage, sin and the evil that so easily tangles us within. Be our ever present help, be our guide, our council and helper today through your Holy Spirit. Grant us your grace to know you, to love you and to be healed by you in all we do in Jesus name. Amen
