“Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts. Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. Such people will stand firm forever.”

Pastor Tim’s Reflection

The characteristics of the person in todays Psalm remind me of an imagery of the Holiness of God. Whom can we remember is like them? Perhaps it’s your Sunday School teacher, your Mom or even your Pastor. The persons described are simple, humble and Holy people. We must aspire to be like them and do likewise.

When given the opportunity it is only natural to share stories, news or what you have heard in community amongst fellow Brothers or Sisters. It is just when it can hurt, harm or hinder somebody that it may be called gossip. Sometimes these truths have to be shared to protect, bless and cover those whom could be harmed. Yet, the same can be said to protect. Guarding our hearts, minds and mouths is important when speaking about Gods people, Gods creation and Gods provisions.

As we walk into the weekend and prepare to unwind, let’s not be ashamed to say the right thing, to do the right thing and follow the example of Christ. Wherever or whenever you can speak positively, humbly and truthfully about others let’s do so. Philippians 4:8 always helps me.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Let us go and do likewise among the people of Gods creation, breaking tradition, setting new trends and being the humbling, most authentic and genuine version of Christ to everyone we meet. Hallelujah Praise Jesus for being our God!

Prayer

Father help us to live for you, shedding ourselves and seeking your face afresh everyday. Wash us white as snow, help us to listen to others, to love others and to live for you in Jesus name. Amen
