Wednesday June 26th Psalm 26

“Declare me innocent, O Lord, for I have acted with integrity; I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Put me on trial, Lord, and cross-examine me. Test my motives and my heart. For I am always aware of your unfailing love, and I have lived according to your truth. I do not spend time with liars or go along with hypocrites. I hate the gatherings of those who do evil, and I refuse to join in with the wicked. I wash my hands to declare my innocence. I come to your altar, O Lord, singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all your wonders. I love your sanctuary, Lord, the place where your glorious presence dwells. Don’t let me suffer the fate of sinners. Don’t condemn me along with murderers. Their hands are dirty with evil schemes, and they constantly take bribes. But I am not like that; I live with integrity. So redeem me and show me mercy. Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord.”

Pastor Tim’s Commentary

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could be like this Psalmist? To hold integrity and uprightness in this way and be so confident of righteousness? If your like me and seek to do right by God, but end up failing due to a difficult day, bad circumstances or indifferent outcomes perhaps you need a little bit more faith, a little bit more prayer and a little bit more time with Jesus.

The Psalmist encourages us not to be like those hypocrites, but it’s so easy to complain, to moan and to forget to do good, to be good and to look to the one who is good. We as humans often struggle, fall and end up flat on our faces.

The answer is available to us though and we must not give up hope. God is always available, waiting, listening and ready to come back into our lives when we fall off. The Psalmist wants us to be like God and encourages us to do so. So let’s not become complacent any longer, let’s follow God in all our ways and acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Today, right now and get back to God!

Prayer

Father God forgive us for falling short, not living up to our own or your expectations and help us to always to return back to you. To repent, to confess and seek forgiveness as your are our King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Thank you Lord in Jesus name. Amen

So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
