Tenacious Teachings for Timothies - Part Two - 2 Timothy 4 Reflection

Sunday & Monday 2 Timothy 4

Opening Verses

2 Timothy 4:2-4

Preach the message, be ready whether it is convenient or not, reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and instruction.  For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things.  And they will turn away from hearing the truth, but on the other hand they will turn aside to myths.

Reflection:

Christ’s ambassadors are called to stand ready, armed with love, truth, correction, rebuke, and encouragement as the Holy Spirit leads.  The integrity of the gospel should be taken seriously.

Paul says in Galatians 1:6-7, “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.”  This is a warning and encouragement to those who preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.  There is great responsibility!

The tragedy is those who are being deceived by false teachers and believing lies.  Luke 11:11 says, “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?”  Jesus is Life, Life abundantly! We must seek unity within the Body of Christ as his Church and Seek Revival for His Kingdom to come here on earth!

John 17:20

My prayer is not for them alone (his disciples). I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John‬ ‭17:20-21‬ ‭NIV‬‬.

Closing Verse

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Prayer for Salvation

“But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:8-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Lord Jesus, I confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and for answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

“So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”

‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:26‬ ‭NLT‬‬
